“Fossils of Time” is a series of work that begins to address my responses to Chaco Canyon, what it is… what it represents, and on some level is a comparison of ancient and contemporary technology and its ensuing results. I first discovered Chaco Canyon, New Mexico around 1990. I have to admit that many places have intrigued and interested me, but none such as this beautifully desolate place that was once a part of the inland sea that cut across North America. Returning to the Canyon time and time again for brief periods of time, I photographed, painted and sketched its nuances, land formations, colors and light.
